Liz Bucar, Ph.D.

Liz Bucar is Professor in the Religion Department at Northeastern University and is the Director of Sacred Writes: Public Scholarship on Religion. Her research and writing focuses on how a deeper understanding religious difference can change our sense of what is right and good. She is the author of four books, including Stealing My Religion: Not Just Any Cultural Appropriation and the award-winning Pious Fashion: How Muslim Women Dress. Her writing has appeared in The Atlantic, The Los Angeles Times, and Teen Vogue and has been featured in media including The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post and Yoga Journal.  She is regularly invited to speak nationally and internationally.  Bucar is currently working on her first trade book.
