Mark Wallace's essays and journalism have been published in The New Yorker, The New York Times Magazine, Harper's, GQ, Salon, Wired, and many other places. He is a Contributing Editor at William Randolph Hearst III's Alta Journal, and a member and past Executive Director of the Writers Grotto in San Francisco, a creative community of 200 writers — including Pulitzer and National Book Award winners — who actively support each other's work and amplify each other's voices in the marketplace. He is coauthor of The Second Life Herald: The Virtual Tabloid that Witnessed the Dawn of the Metaverse (MIT Press 2009), one of the first mainstream accounts of the culture, commerce, and impact of online games and virtual worlds. Mark lives with his family on the rural California coast an hour south of San Francisco.  He is working on his first trade book.
