Jeff Snyder, Ph.D.

Jeff Snyder is professor and historian of education at Carleton College in Northfield, MN who specializes in the modern United States and specifically on trends in cultural and intellectual history as they relate to questions about race, national identity, public education and democracy. He is a Fellow at the University of California National Center for Free Speech and is the author of Making Black History: Race, Culture and the Color Line in the Age of Jim Crow. His writing has appeared in outlets including The Chronicle of Higher Education, The Washington Post, The American Prospect and the Boston Review. He is currently working on his first trade book with co-author Amna Khalid.
